The world junior chess championship is an annual tournament held in a different part of the world each year that generally has at most one or two representatives from each country under the age of 20. For those of you who are wondering, this is not just a tournament of kids! The year I played had several Grandmasters and players ranked in the top 200 in the world. In fact, many players I competed with later made it to the top 20 (e.g. Alexander Morozevich) in the world, and one (Ruslan Ponomariov) even won the 2001 FIDE World Championship. |
